Terminal City Glass Co-op is a non-profit, co-operative glass arts studio in Vancouver’s Eastside Arts District. Artists work independently out of our studio on their own individual projects and businesses. We offer glassblowing, flameworking and bead making classes year-round. We support all kinds of community-building activities in the studio including slide shows, social events, member meet-ups, fundraisers and more.

Job Description:
Part-time, permanent, 25-35 hours per week
Vancouver, BC
Start Date: October 2024
We are currently seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Studio Manager to work with our team and members in our East Vancouver co-op studio.
You have experience working in the arts and a strong interest in providing support to members and students from beginner/hobbyists to professional artists, in a busy studio environment. You are an energetic, community-minded self-starter. You are an experienced project manager who can take on the day-to-day running of the physical plant/studio as well as long term facility planning.
You love working with people and collaborating with staff, committees, members, volunteers and the general public. You are a natural teacher who enjoys sharing your knowledge with others. You are interested in connecting with BC's arts and cultural community, in the Co-operative and non-profit sector working in education and studio operations.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Studio Manager manages the technical aspects of the Hot shop, Flame shop, and Cold shop; the Studio Manager maintains a clean, safe, and productive studio environment.
Responsibilities:
Key Duties
Equipment Management:
-- Charging the furnace weekly.
-- Ensuring the equipment is safe and maintained, cleaning the studio. Repairing equipment as needed.
-- Building and purchasing new equipment as necessary.
Member and Education Support:
-- Provides orientations and ongoing support and education for members and students on equipment use and facilities, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed.
--Assists with managing and facilitating educational programming with the General Manager.
Executive Support:
-- Identifies and implements studio improvements in consultation with the management team and Board of Directors.
-- Works with the GM and Financial Team to manage facility budget and support with grant applications. Providing recommendations on policies and procedures, opportunities, course design, education etc.
Inventory and Supply Management:
-- Monitoring stock levels, placing orders in a timely manner and tracking and accepting deliveries.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-- Completion of post secondary school or glass training programming is recommended
-- Strong knowledge of glassblowing industry required
-- Technical knowledge of kilns, furnaces, controllers, and electrical systems
-- Strong, friendly, and professional customer service skills
-- Must be organized and detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
-- Project management skills including scheduling and budgeting
-- Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects with a problem-solving mindset
-- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, ability to learn new software systems.
-- Welding, woodworking, electrical or machining skills considered a plus
-- Teaching experience a plus
-- Must be able to lift +50 lb
-- Must be eligible to work in Canada

Remuneration:
