DanceHouse connects Vancouver audiences and the local arts community to the international world of dance by presenting exceptional companies that are recognized for their excellence, innovation, and international reputation both in theatres and via a digital streaming series titled Digidance. Over the past thirteen seasons, DanceHouse has presented vibrant and inspiring companies from Canada and around the world (check out the DanceHouse archive here). In addition to the performances on stage, DanceHouse offers a suite of engagement opportunities and a chance for members of the general public and the local artistic community to engage with the presented artists and their work.

DanceHouse is a program of the Seismic Shift Arts Society which is a provincial non-profit society and a federally registered charitable organization. DanceHouse is managed by Eponymous Productions and Management Inc. in a cluster management model (you can read more about Eponymous here).

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Patron Relations, the Communications and Development Manager is responsible for the scheduling, coordination and execution of patron communication and fund development activities. This is a full-time (35 hour/week), permanent position and the typical working schedule is Monday to Friday; however, the schedule varies in response to presentation activity. It is a hybrid role – three days in office, two days remote. DanceHouse’s main office is in Vancouver on East 1st Avenue.

Responsibilities:

Communications:
- Manage website content, scheduling, and updates (in collaboration with the website editor).
- Oversee e-blast management and cross-promotions.
- Coordinate design and production of all printed marketing materials (e.g., banners, rack cards, signage).
- Manage house programs, including ad swaps, sponsorships, content creation, editing, and production.
- Coordinate media partnerships, print advertising, and external ad buys, working with designers and publishers.
- Support digital advertising efforts (Facebook, Instagram, Google) with external contractors.
- Oversee social media presence and create content.
- Liaise with publicists and company reps for PR and show-specific marketing.
- Create and manage post-show surveys.
- Coordinate the annual Season Launch and special announcements.

Development:
- Support relationships with foreign consulates and embassies, including application preparation.
- Write and prepare proposals, grant applications, and final reports (municipal, provincial, federal).
- Assist with foundation applications and support.
- Coordinate individual donor engagement activities (theatre events, mail outs, digital).
- Co-manage fundraising campaigns with the Director of Patron Relations.
- Jointly coordinate donor thank-you letters and tax receipts with the Patron Services Coordinator.
- Support sponsor recruitment and engagement.
- Collaborate on board-led development projects.
- Design sponsorship packages and season reports.
- Assist with strategic planning processes.
- Co-coordinate the DanceHouse One initiative with the Patron Services Coordinator and Director of Patron Relations.
- Manage monthly donors and legacy giving programs.

Qualifications:

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Knowledge of theatre operations, particularly patron-facing activities.
- Experience in marketing and promotion for both live and digital (streamed) performances.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Team player, adaptable to different personality types.
- Skilled writer with the ability to create strong written content for a number of applications in a performing arts presentation environment; able to write in multiple voices for a variety of applications from marketing to grant copy.
- Basic graphic design skills for web and print, proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with digital tools like MailChimp and SurveyMonkey.
- Flexible schedule, with availability for evening/weekend work.
- Familiarity with CRM or database systems.
- Passionate about performing arts presentation and eager to learn new skills.

Remuneration:

$50,000 - $65,000/year
