Job Description:

Applicants are now invited to apply for the position of Facilities Manager. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Exhibitions, the Facilities Manager oversees day-to-day operations and building functions of an active multi-purpose facility.

This is an 80% Full-Time (32 hours weekly) position, including some weekend shifts, and on-call availability for after-hours building emergencies.

Responsibilities:

• Managing all aspects of building operations, including but not limited to: HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, health and safety, cleaning, snow removal, and garbage disposal
• Working with the Director of Operations & Exhibitions to oversee IT network and security systems for the Gallery, maintaining relationships with outside consultants to provide timely support
• Being the primary contact (including after-hours) for building emergencies and concerns from building tenants
• Developing and implementing maintenance policies, contracts, and emergency procedures, and keeping clear records of each
• Ensuring all building facilities and on-site equipment adhere to proper health and safety standards and cleaning procedures
• Ensuring weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual safety schedules and inspections are maintained (fire monitoring, elevator inspections, security systems, etc.)
• Monitoring interior and exterior areas of the building for cleanliness and general conservation to enhance the visitor experience, and liaising with City of North Vancouver as required
• Completing general in-house repairs and maintenance, as required
• Arranging building refurbishments and improvements to accessibility, and preparing and implementing project budgets and timelines
• Managing construction projects around the facility (including custom shelving and storage solutions), working in tandem with Lead Fabricator
• Sourcing and purchasing maintenance supplies and materials

Qualifications:

• An understanding of the unique needs associated with a multi-purpose facility that displays valuable artwork and holds public events
• Patience, maturity, and a keen eye for detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to liaise smoothly with external contractors and vendors
• Contract handling experience
• Excellent organization, time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills
• Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles, with experience planning and maintaining facility budgets
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of HVAC, security, and other building systems
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical plans is an asset
• Basic plumbing and mechanical skills are an asset
• Ability to lift heavy objects and complete hands-on labour-intensive tasks as needed
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment
• General IT skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Mac OS
• A valid B.C. Driver’s license is an asset

Remuneration:
