Vancouver Performing Stars is a performing arts training program for children ages 1-17 that offers a variety of music, theatre and movement classes around Vancouver with a home studio at 24th & Fraser. From ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop to voice lessons and musical theatre, we strive to offer community programs that are continually growing with our students. By learning technique and confidence through song and play, children can hone their skills as performers while developing a love for the arts.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly-organized, educated and skilled Music Program Coordinator to join our growing team. The successful applicant overseas a variety of arts programs and instructors and develops and creates programming and customized teaching resources. This position will require both administrative duties as well as independently instruct in person group and solo coaching sessions.

Responsibilities:

- Design the structure, content, and objectives of new and existing music and theatre programs for various age groups

- Oversee the development and implementation of educational policies and programs for the company’s music and theatre curriculum

- Evaluate existing curriculum programs and recommend improvements to enhance student learning.

- Create customized age-appropriate teaching materials and resources for different programs and skill levels

- Select and interpret shows and repertoire for performances, composing, arranging or modifying material as necessary to suit the specific needs of productions and performers.

- Independently instruct large group, small group, and individual coaching sessions

- Prepare students for performances, including studio showcases, recitals, and external competitions or events.

- Champion an inclusive and nurturing learning atmosphere that inspires students to excel, while delivering targeted feedback to individuals and groups to enhance vocal technique and overall performance.

- Liaise and manage the stage management, production, and technical teams for VPS productions

- Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring and professional development training for instructors in the Music and Theatre Departments.

- Cultivate strong relationships with parents and families through effective communication across multiple channels, including in-person interactions, phone conversations, and written correspondence

Stay current with performing arts industry trends and new teaching methods. Continue to attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

- Post secondary graduate of a theatre, music or dance program OR equivalent training/work experience within the performing arts

- At least 5+ years working as a performing arts educator

- Proven experience teaching music and singing in both large group and individual settings with children of all ages.

- Experience choreographing and acting direction is also highly regarded.

- Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse teams within a music education environment

- Professional music directing experience within theatre settings

- Related music and theatre performance experience

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Remuneration:

Full-time Pay: $35,000.00-$49,000.00 per year
