Job Description:
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Bass Coast is seeking an experienced and imaginative Lead Graphic Designer who will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing the visual campaign strategy for the year, along with creating compelling visual content that effectively communicates Bass Coast's brand and message across various media.
This role involves designing social media assets including video & still posts, a wide variety of promotional materials, web platform assets, newsletter graphics, event accreditation, signage and other festival visual assets.
The Lead Graphic Designer will report directly to the Marketing Director and collaborate closely with the Festival Directors, Social Media Coordinator and other departments to ensure visual consistency, schedule delivery and alignment with the festival's ethos and objectives.
This position requires creativity, attention to detail, ability to take constructive feedback, pivot when required, respond to last minute requests and have a strong ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in leading design projects coupled with a well-developed artistic vision and a deep passion for electronic music events and culture. Experience in video editing, animation, and motion graphics is an asset.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
Position:
This is a part-time, permanent position, requiring on average 15-20 hours/week.
May, June and July may require additional hours, which will be compensated accordingly.
Compensation: $25-35 / hour based on experience and qualifications.

All Bass Coast team members work remotely and are required to have their own computer, printer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely with team members. In-person meetings may be required.
Responsibilities:
Collaborative Development: Work closely with the Festival Directors, Marketing Director, Social Media Coordinator and other internal teams to understand project requirements, timelines, and objectives. Design with both marketing strategies and artistic direction in mind, translating ideas into visually compelling designs.
Design Creation: Develop, pitch, and execute visual concepts for promotional materials, including artwork used across multiple platforms, newsletters, web, and event specific needs ensuring all designs reflect the festival’s unique identity and align with its artistic vision.
Design & Branding Proposals: Prepare and present design proposals for new initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with the festival's broader goals.
Brand Consistency: Ensure that all visual content adheres to established brand guidelines, while also contributing to the development of these guidelines in collaboration with the Art and Marketing Directors. Maintain a cohesive and compelling aesthetic across all media.
Digital & Print Assets: Create and optimize digital assets for social media, email campaigns, websites, festival production, while also producing high-quality print materials to support the festival as needed.
File & Asset Management: Maintain our organized filing system
Project Management: Oversee the design process for multiple projects simultaneously including concept, proofing, edits, review on each channel & delivery. Provide time estimates for each project, communicate progress with stakeholders, and ensure all deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
Team Management: Manage and delegate tasks to the part-time design team.
Email Etiquette: Execute strong email etiquette including responding to all emails within a 24 hour period during business hours.
Various duties as required: With our small and dynamic team there are many new initiatives introduced on a regular basis. Flexibility and the ability to shift focus and nurture new ideas is an integral part of our team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of professional graphic design experience, ideally in the music, arts, or festival industries.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier etc.).
Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of multimedia design work, including both print and digital media.
Familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms.
Experience with 2D motion graphics and video editing is highly preferred.
Ability to translate brand identity and messaging into engaging and cohesive visual designs.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality output.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
Practical experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and other project management tools.
Ability to adapt to an evolving environment and manage shifting priorities with a sense of urgency.
Experience working at or attending music festivals or large events is a plus.
A passion and deep understanding of the type of music and art presented at Bass Coast as well as the larger branding trends across the electronic music industry.
Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
