Job Description:

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Bass Coast is seeking an experienced and innovative Social Media Content Coordinator with a deep understanding of the underground electronic music and art culture that is showcased at Bass Coast. The Content Creator & Social Media Coordinator is responsible for crafting and organizing engaging content that reflects the festival's unique ethos.

This role involves working closely with the Marketing Director to support overarching marketing strategies while also managing day-to-day social media activities. The coordinator will capture, edit, create, and distribute content across various social platforms, ensuring cohesive storytelling that engages both existing and new audiences. A strong grasp on the specific technical requirements of each media channel and excellent attention to detail is a must.

The ideal candidate is passionate about electronic music and festival culture, is up to date on current social media trends, and possesses a keen eye for visual aesthetics. Excellent copywriting skills, video editing skills, and experience in content creation is required in this role.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Contract Duration:
This is a part-time, permanent position, requiring an average of 20 hours/week, with a 3-month trial period.

June and July may require additional hours, which will be compensated accordingly.

The successful candidate must be available to be on the festival site from July 8 to July 15.

Compensation:
$25-35 / hour based on experience and qualifications.

All Bass Coast team members work remotely and are required to have their own computer, printer, file storage and workspace (whether at home or elsewhere). The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and work remotely with team members. In-person meetings may be required.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Content Organization: Collect, organize, and manage content from various teams (e.g. content creators, street team, photo / video team, media, production, artists) and external sources to ensure a consistent flow of materials. Ability to organize a team & an array of deliverables in advance of a bi-weekly schedule is a must.

Content Creation & Curation: Create and curate compelling social media content (images, videos, stories, and written copy) to promote the festival's brand across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, etc.). Experience with Adobe suite is an asset.

Newsletters: Schedule and post up to 3 newsletters each week or as needed.

Copywriting & Captioning: Write clear, engaging, and on-brand copy for social media posts that reflect the festival's values, voice, culture, and messaging.

Scheduling & Posting: Draft and schedule social media posts across platforms, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery that aligns with the festival's promotional calendar. Effective posting on each channel will require a strong grasp on technical requirements of each and an effective system to preview and approve each asset before posting.

On-Site Content Capture: Attend the festival and manage a team of content creators to capture live content, including artist performances, art installations, crowd interactions, and behind-the-scenes moments to share in real-time or for post-event campaigns.

Collaboration with Street Team: Collaborate with the street team to create and amplify content, including community-focused promotions, contests, and interactive campaigns.

Social Media Campaign Management: Execute social media campaigns that support the festival’s marketing strategy, with an emphasis on audience engagement, brand awareness, and ticket sales.

Moderating: Experience moderating chats and feeds.

Audience Engagement: Interact with DJs, artists, performers, and their online communities. Engage with festival followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and friendly manner, ensuring a positive digital community.

Performance Analysis: Monitor and report on social media performance metrics (engagement, reach, impressions, etc.) and use data to refine content strategies.

Trend Awareness: Stay informed and anticipate social media trends, new tools, and best practices to keep the festival’s digital presence relevant and innovative. In particular staying informed on electronic music or festival marketing trends.

Email Etiquette: Execute strong email etiquette including responding to all emails within a 24 hour period during business hours.

Various duties as required: With our small and dynamic team there are many new initiatives introduced on a regular basis. Flexibility and the ability to shift focus and nurture new ideas is an integral part of our team.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience.

2-3 years of professional experience in social media content creation, copywriting, or digital marketing, preferably in the arts, music, or entertainment sectors.

Proven experience managing social media platforms and creating campaigns that drive engagement and growth; including building an audience from the ground up on platforms like Tik Tok.

Basic knowledge of design software (Adobe Suite is an asset) for simple graphics creation.

Basic Knowledge of video editing software (Adobe Premiere, or similar software).

Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for detail, capable of adapting tone and style to suit the festival’s brand voice.

Experience with creative content development and storytelling, particularly within music and art-driven environments.

History working closely with cross-functional teams and external collaborators (e.g., artists, vendors, photographers).

Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, especially during the festival.

Prior experience working in or attending festivals or large-scale events is an asset.

Knowledge about Bass Coast and or the music & art curation represented, specifically where Bass Coast falls within the spectrum of electronic music and festival culture.

Must be legally eligible to work unrestricted in Canada.
