Job Description:

Two Rivers Gallery, the centre for art and creativity in Northern BC, is hiring a Creativity Camp Coordinator. The main tasks of the Creativity Camp Coordinator will include developing educational arts-based programs, and leading full day Creativity Camps and morning Summer Art Clubs. The first portion of their placement will involve working with the Director of Learning & Engagement to create resources, kits, and schedules for Creativity Camps. They will also assist in our summer arts celebration, Community Art Days, which will be held July 11 & 12, 2025. The remaining time with Two Rivers Gallery will be spent as a camp leader in our summer Creativity Camps delivering arts-based programs and managing youth. The role is centered around gaining skill-building work experiences in a public art gallery, and facilitating educational art programs for school aged children.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborating closely with the Learning and Engagement team to determine Creativity Camp programming for 7 weeks of Creativity Camps & Summer Art Clubs
- Developing inquiry-based lesson plans to lead participatory cultural engagement with programming through art and exploration
- Assisting in developing art activities for our signature summer event, Community Art Days on July 11 & 12
- Working as part of the gallery team – participate in staff meetings, training and engagement
- Maintaining a safe and healthy creative environment for youth
- Fostering engagement and joy in youth exploring the visual and creative arts
- Cultivating clear and respectful communication with youth and guardians

Qualifications:

- This position is suitable for an Undergraduate/Graduate student studying Education, Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies or other related fields
- Experience working with children, specifically those 6-12 years of age
- Ability to collaborate and work closely with others
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- An interactive approach to community outreach and engagement that helps art come alive for new audiences
- Commitment to honour, engage and celebrate culture, identifying and removing barriers to participation and inclusion, fostering anti-racism initiatives, and championing diversity in the arts is an asset
- Knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing is an asset
- First Aid Certification

How to Apply:

Successful applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for Young Canada Works including: having been enrolled as a full-time student in the Spring of 2025 and returning to school full-time in the Fall of 2025, be between the ages of 16-30, and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. This position is contingent on funding and will be hired based on availability. Students who are interested in this position should consider applying also for our Regional Outreach Coordinator positions.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, 7.5 hours / day, 37.5 hours / week
Some evening and / or weekend work may be required.
Rate of pay: $17.40 / hour
