The ACT Arts Centre (The ACT), located in the community of Maple Ridge and part of the Greater Vancouver
Regional District (GVRD), is the leading provider of engaging, vibrant and excellent Arts Programs, Gallery Exhibitions and Performing Arts Presentations for the growing communities of the region. Opened in 2003, the 486-seat theatre, studio theatre, instruction studios and art gallery are home to many cultural and community events, delivering an array of diverse arts and cultural programming and activities to over 80,000 patrons annually.

Job Description:

The Manager for Marketing, Communications and Brand (MMCB) joins a dynamic, energetic, and creative professional administrative team, with the responsibility of providing leadership in all areas of Marketing and Sales, Communications, and Brand Strategy, to promote the mission and services of The ACT Arts Centre to current and potential consumers and stakeholders. Part of the Senior Management Team, the MMCB is a data-driven marketer, responsible for all strategic and tactical elements of the marketing and sales efforts of The ACT Arts Centre, including creating and executing
an annual marketing plan; developing and implementing new strategies for revenue and audience and participant growth including strategizing direct mail and e-mail campaigns; stewarding the organization’s digital presence and online marketing strategies; and managing and developing the current and future team of support staff and vendors to ensure all marketing, sales, patron engagement, and public relations objectives
are met.
This position requires in-person attendance at The ACT Arts Centre.

Responsibilities:

• Create, execute and evaluate an annual marketing plan, including digital and social media strategies, based on data and analysis of economic trends, consumer behaviors and demographic characteristics of current consumers and likely consumers of The ACT Arts Centre’s programs and services for approx. fifty ticketed events per season, to meet objectives of annual budget and Strategic Plan.
• Oversight of creative production, copy, and distribution of all communications pieces in print and digital formats, including season brochure, fundraising materials, and other key marketing collateral.
• Develop and execute targeted sales and marketing plans for specific market segments and for new market segments to increase subscription and single tickets sales.
• Develop pricing recommendations, ticket sales revenue forecasts, and marketing expense budgets in conjunction with the Artistic and Executive Director.
• Develop and lead The ACT Arts Centre’s customer service presence, working with and managing the Patron Sales and Service Manager and Box Office, to provide excellence in customer service.
• Ensure effective brand development, following strategy guidelines and clear brand messages communicated across all marketing and communications campaigns.
• Create and compile reports including, ticket sales, participation analysis, customer survey data, and review and analysis of patron experience.
• Manages third-party vendors of marketing systems required to execute the strategy: email program, website (Squarespace), survey software (Survey Monkey), and ticketing system (Spektrix).

Management Responsibilities:
• Hire, supervise, support and evaluate all department staff.
• Develop, monitor, and administer department budget, work plans, and reports.
• Develop and execute department strategic plans as needed.
• Act as staff liaison for board committees as assigned
• Act as an Arts and Culture representative on various community and municipal taskforces and committees as may be assigned.
• Ensure that policy and procedures in Marketing, Sales, Communication, and Brand Management are reviewed and updated regularly.

Communications Responsibilities:
• Work with the Artistic and Executive Director to promote the organization to government
stakeholders and other community partners.
• Ensure consistency in all organization communications.
• Provide strategic communication direction for art learning programs, special events, operations, and other programming related areas.
• Oversee public and media relations efforts and relationships.
• Other duties, projects and tasks as may be assigned by the Artistic and Executive Director

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree in Communications, Marketing or other related discipline, or work
experience equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive marketing, sales and or communications management, preferably within the Arts and Culture sector, with proven track record in achieving sales and marketing goals
• Must possess broad cultural literacy with a focus on the performing arts
• Experience managing a team of staff and working in a multi-department environment
• Exceptional copywriting and messaging skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines to drive projects to completion
• Solid working knowledge of Square Space website platform and PC/Windows-based software and
network environment including MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint.
• Must be willing to learn The ACT’s cloud-based ticketing software system (Spectrix)
• Due to the nature of the business may be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Remuneration:

$73,000/per annum; RRSP employer contribution match; generous paid vacation; extended health and dental benefits after successful completion of a 3-month probation period
