Job Description:
Working within an existing social media schedule and strategy, the marketing coordinator will work with artists and other key company individuals to devise unique and inviting content to help drive brand awareness and ticket sales for Opera Kelowna's annual mainstage production and other summer / fall activities. The marketing coordinator role assists in creating original digital content throughout the summer months for use on web platforms, across social media platforms, in newsletters and in community engagement activities.
This is a 9 week placement beginning on June 25, 2025. Start date can be flexible.
Average 30 hours / week (some evening and weekend work expected; schedule set during hiring)
Mileage can be reimbursed if the Coordinator uses their own vehicle for work-errands.

Responsibilities:
-Support the Operations Coordinator in creating 3 social media posts per week to promote Opera Kelowna brand awareness and drive ticket sales, a bi-monthly newsletter, and other content as needed.
-Liaise with artists and community members to collect relevant content
-Take photo and video at Opera Kelowna events and internal programming for use in marketing content. Ensure that media release waivers are signed as needed. Performances and programs may include: Sidewalk Serenades, Opera Under the Stars, Valley Opera Summer Intensive, La Traviata production, Sparkling Serenade
-Ensure all media files are labelled within Opera Kelowna naming conventions and filed appropriately in google drive
-Coordinate Photography and Videography for mainstage dress rehearsal
-Liaise with graphic designers to build marketing assets and production program.
-Act as media liaison for scheduling interviews, shooting b-roll and other coverage opportunities for Opera Kelowna activities. Assist with load in and load out of production and other community events as needed.
-Draft media releases and advisories using Opera Kelowna templates and materials.
-Office tasks can be done on a flexible schedule, excepting regular production and team meetings which will be scheduled at the beginning of the appointment. Rehearsal, programming and performance tasks will be laid out at the beginning of the appointment. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
-Learn and work within Opera Kelowna’s Neurodiversity protocols.
Qualifications:
-Excellent time management and organization skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
-An affinity for the performing arts.
-Photography and Video skills beneficial for social media content creation. Some training available.
-Strong teamwork skills
