Ballet BC is an internationally renowned creation-based contemporary dance company led by Artistic Director Medhi Walerski. Deeply committed to presenting new work by established and emerging choreographers in addition to acclaimed repertoire, the 20-dancer company performs today’s most sought-after Canadian and international choreography. Ballet BC tours regionally and internationally to its regular performance season at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, and is a leader and resource in the community through dance education opportunities, community and audience outreach, and professional development activities which serve to provide greater access to our art form.

The largest dance organization in British Columbia, Ballet BC is located on culturally vibrant Granville Island in the heart of Vancouver, situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples—the Sḵwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl’ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəyə̓ m (Musqueam) First Nations.

Job Description:

Ballet BC is looking for an enthusiastic team player to support our marketing department, our MOVE program and the 44 Summer Intensive. This role will work both behind the scenes and on the front line at our Granville Island studios. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications and working closely with the Marketing Specialist, the ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator who enjoys a creative, collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with promotion of Ballet BC’s 2025/26 season
- Work as part of front office team supporting Ballet BC MOVE classes and 44 Summer Intensive
- Sell Ballet BC merchandise at our Granville Island studios and external events
- In new and existing markets, research and identify community organizations with which to partner in order to amplify Ballet BC brand awareness
- Research and compile information and promotional assets regarding choreographers and choreographic works
- Assist with the organization and archival of physical historical marketing materials
- Maintain and update media database
- Maintain and update brochure and collateral distribution database
- Organization of digital marketing assets including filing, renaming, and resizing
- Assist with content creation for Ballet BC social media channels
- Assist with set-up and take-down for events and general admin tasks as needed

The above list is not exclusive or exhaustive and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.

Qualifications:

- Candidates must be between the ages of 18-30
- Experience and/or interest in the arts is an asset
- 1-year experience in marketing or communications
- Working on a diploma or degree in marketing, communications, or journalism is preferred
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop or other photo editing software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for design and visual aesthetics
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Passionate about customer service and creating positive, accessible experiences for communities

Remuneration:

$17.85 per hour for 35 hours per week
