About the VSO School of Music
VSO School of Music, founded in 2010, is a 25,000 square foot state of-the-art music school located adjacent to the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Vancouver. With a mission to enrich lives through the joy of learning, playing and performing the world’s great music, the VSO SoM develops experiences that are accessible to all, regardless of age, ability, playing level or economic circumstances; and by nurturing creative and engaged members of society through achievement in the musical arts. With a roster of over 1900 students, the School is proud to offer individual or group instruction by members of the Vancouver Symphony and other high-quality music educators.
The school also features a performance theatre (Pyatt Hall) and Reception space which sees a wide range of arts, entertainment, and corporate groups utilizing the space for performances, recordings, and special events.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Marketing & Communication Junior Officer to join our organization, committed to making a meaningful impact in the community. In this pivotal role, you will be supporting the VSO School of Music’s marketing efforts and helping us achieve reach, awareness, registration and enrollment goals. Your main responsibilities will include content creation, market research, coordinating marketing campaigns, updating the website, and creating email campaigns.
The Marketing and Communication Junior Officer will have a strong understanding of marketing principles and will be adept at crafting messages that resonate with diverse stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in the ideation and execution of creative assets, manage timelines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to bring projects to life. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has a strong interest in marketing, a passion for music, excellent communication skills, and is highly motivated to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with creative and marketing team to develop campaign concepts and strategies.
• Content creation including videos, graphics, and copywriting for digital and print collateral
• Create and distribute internal and external marketing materials
• Schedule and execute marketing projects, tracking progress and deadlines.
• Promote, attend and photograph events
• Assist market research and analysis to identify trends, target markets, and competitor activity
• Create engaging content for social media, email marketing and website, contributing to a digital marketing strategy that optimizes reach and conversion
• Contribute to community engagement activities through grassroots and event-based marketing to connect with target audiences
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and campaigns
• Provide administrative support to the marketing team, including scheduling meetings and preparing marketing reports

Qualifications:

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business/Administration Marketing Communications, Design or a related field or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in a marketing or creative coordination role
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and balance competing priorities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Strong storyteller with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
• Ability to create visually cohesive assets that strengthen the School of Music brand
• Knowledge of social media platforms and their best practices for business use
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently
• A strong portfolio or samples of creative work that demonstrate your skills
