Organization Description:

The Abbotsford Arts Council's programming includes monthly visual art exhibitions at our Kariton House Gallery, quarterly exhibitions by Indigenous artists in the Downie Wenjack Legacy Space, and two annual music festivals: Jam in Jubilee and Mill Lake Music.

Jam in Jubilee occurs Thursday evenings in July and features free family friendly live music, an Indigenous artist spotlight, food trucks and beer from local vendors, and artist and community tables. Check out coverage of last year's Jam at our website below.

Job Description:

Jam in Jubilee was previously overseen by a festival coordinator. The position has been divided into two directorial positions: music director and grounds director. The grounds director is a big picture thinker who is passionate about amplifying local and regional artisans and vendors and creating safer and more inclusive spaces and events.

Responsibilities:

Books Jubilee park, licenses, security, storage, and other festival essentials.
Assesses JIJ fencing and tents and makes recommendations on purchases or replacements, as needed.
Liaises with food and liquor vendors, artisans, and community booths for media material, contracts, back line requirements, and payment information.
Requisitions payment as needed.
Attends and co-chairs JIJ committee meetings.
Provides updates at JIJ committee meetings.
Liaises with and invites artists for AAC community booths and Indigenous artist spotlight.
With Music Director, provides on site festival and volunteer coordination day of.
Organizes set up and take down of including but not limited to licensed area, AAC artist tents, chill out tent*, and Indigenous spotlight tent.
Assists with website updates.
Recruits and assigns volunteers for set up and take down of licensed area, AAC artist tents, chill out tent*, and Indigenous spotlight tent.
With Music Director, performs outreach at local secondary and post-secondary schools for volunteer recruitment.
With Music Director, creates day of schedule and assigns volunteers to stations.
With Music Director, assists with festival marketing and promotion.
With Music Director, assists with standing sponsorship relationships and sourcing new opportunities.
With Music Director, assists with developing digitizing and archiving projects.
Provides strategic insights and recommendations based on analytics and industry trends.
Experience with recruiting, managing and motivating volunteers.
Other duties may be requested.

Qualifications:

Event management experience required. Music festival experience is an asset but not required. We recognize lived experience and volunteer experience.
