Responsibilities:
The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts has a unique opportunity to be a part of Fine Arts programming for the community! We are hiring a Fine Arts Leader to assist in developing Visual Arts programming, through assisting with planning, implementing and coordinating classes, evaluating current programs, planning events and exhibitions. You’ll also have the opportunity to act as a resource person for specialized Visual Arts instructors and artistic organizations in the Community. You will prepare promotional material and generate ideas to boost the profile of Visual Arts. Preparing and maintaining records, working within the registration database and tracking supply inventories will also be part of your duties. You will be required to have strong working relationships with other staff and contract instructors. You will have a supervisory role with Fine Art Instructors, Fine Art assistants and volunteers, evaluating and providing guidance as needed. You will perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
To qualify, you’ll need to have completed a two-year Community College course in a Fine Arts specialty including courses in teaching and related instructional experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You’ll be required to have sound knowledge of the principles, practices and materials associated with Visual Arts programming, i.e. organizing and maintaining supplies, studio spaces, and specialized equipment. You’ll need to have a strong understanding of community needs and interests, as well as an ability to develop and evaluate programs that serve the community. You should have classroom management experience as well as an ability to teach participants of varying ages. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Pay Rate: $31.97 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
Location: Shadbolt Centre for the Arts
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements and scheduled on a as needed basis on a seasonal basis. Typical shifts in this position are Wednesday from 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday from 12:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. This position will require the availability to work some of the full day Summer Camps.
