Organization Description:

221A is a nonprofit cultural organization located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations, also known as Vancouver, BC, Canada. Our mission is to work with artists and designers to research and develop social, cultural, and ecological infrastructure. We operate programs and services that include Fellowships, Artist Housing, and Artist Studio spaces.

Job Description:

221A has a 19 person staff team, with two staff dedicated to fundraising: Head of Advancement and Advancement Coordinator. Our annual and strategic plans provide fundraising direction and strategy for the organization.

All contracted Grant Writers will work directly with this team to assist them in writing and compiling grant proposals and grant reports. Currently 221A (and our two affiliated nonprofits: 221A Artist Housing Society and the Cultural Land Trust) write between 25 to 30 government and foundation proposals annually.

Softwares used: Slack, Google, Zoom, Proofhub (forthcoming), Microsoft suite (occasional).
Values: Alignment with 221A’s values (221a.ca/about).
Cultural competencies: Anti-racism; intercultural relationships.
Indigenous relationships & experiences: Long term commitment to and/or experience in reciprocal relationships with Host Nations, and a demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary Indigenous experiences.
Non-profit sector conditions: Understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal stakeholders, factors of influence, and engagement expectations.
Administrative skills: Strong digital document authoring and management skills.
Confidentiality: High level of discretion with sensitive information.

Primary job location: Remote.
Reporting to: Head of Advancement.
Auxiliary contract: Hours are variable and depend on grant writing schedule as well as candidate expertise. This is not a full-time job.

Remuneration:
