Organization Description:

Studio 58 is the professional theatre training program at snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College, located in Vancouver, British Columbia on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) territory. We offer nationally recognized conservatory-style training for both actors and production personnel. Each academic year, Studio 58 produces four main stage productions, and hires professional designers depending on the needs of the production on a contract basis.

Job Description:

Studio 58, snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College is seeking submissions of interest from theatre designers in the disciplines listed below. We are creating a database that our department can then pull from when planning the season and hiring contractors. We aim to connect with contractors from the Vancouver theatre community who have not previously been able to work with Studio 58. We welcome contractors at any stage of their career to submit, but are unable to accept submissions from current students. Designers who have previously worked for Studio 58 are welcome to submit so that we are up to date on the disciplines that you cover.

Sound Designers

Projection Designers

Mentors for all disciples listed above for student designers

Responsibilities:

The crews for each discipline are comprised of current Studio 58 students in both the acting and production programs. The designers complete the work in a hands-on setting, working with and guiding the students for each crew call. All work with crews is scheduled in the evenings and on weekends. A typical production period is a four-week rehearsal period, one week of tech and one/two week run. At the end of the production, each designer will submit comments for all students that they closely worked with or mentored.

Qualifications:

Background working in the professional theatre industry.
