We are currently accepting applications for a Pottery Studio Technician to assist in the operation of NVRC Pottery studios.

Job Description:

YOU WILL:  

You will load and unload kilns, provide support to studio participants during drop ins or scheduled shifts, assist with kiln and studio equipment maintenance, glaze mixing/measuring, clay reclaiming and recycling, and organizing studio tools, equipment, and pottery wares. This position also supports pottery programming as directed by the Pottery Studio Supervisor and assists in studio cleaning with other duties as assigned.

This position involves technical work in the pottery studio and may include some teaching of pottery programs.

Responsibilities:

YOU HAVE:  

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Ability to foster a positive, welcoming, and supportive culture within the studio, as appropriate to the role

Ability to work well with others (studio participants and staff)

Strong organizational skills   

Ability to work independently but to also take direction from the Pottery Studios Supervisor

Ability to remain impartial and keep to a kiln firing schedule

Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment

Minimum 2 years of experience in a pottery studio  

Sound technical knowledge of pottery studio including equipment and techniques

Pottery Instruction experience is an asset.

Should be someone with pottery knowledge, studio technician experience preferred

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

Pottery knowledge and experience with studio technician duties.

A minimum of two years of teaching pottery is considered an asset.

High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development certification, Emergency Childcare First Aid or equivalent, and pottery experience. 
  
All employees should be prepared to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Record Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.

Remuneration:

The pay for this casual position starts at $22.88 and ranges to $24.96 per hour.
