Finance Committee Announces Budget 2017 Public Consultation Schedule
/The Province's all-party Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has announced its public hearing schedule for the Budget 2017 consultation process. This year the committee will travel to 15 communities to hear from interested individuals and organizations about their fiscal priorities. Videoconference opportunities will be available for an additional eight communities.

Pursuant to the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act, the consultation period opens by September 15, with the release of the Budget 2017 Consultation Paper by the Minister of Finance.
The Alliance for Arts + Culture encourages all members of BC's arts and culture community to participate in the consultations by presenting at a public hearing, making a written, audio or video submission, or by completing an online survey.
Important Dates to Note
- Registration opens for public hearings at 9:00 a.m.on Tuesday, September 6.
- Website opens to receive submissions and online survey responses on Thursday, September 15.
- Public hearings begin on Monday, September 19.
- The deadline for public input is Friday, October. 14.
- The committee will release a report on the results of its consultations by November 15.
Register to Present at a Public Hearing
To register to present at a public hearing, email FinanceCommittee@leg.bc.ca on or after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6.
Plan to register early, as spaces typically book up quickly. Requests are considered on a first come, first served basis and only those received after 9:00 a.m. on September 6 will be considered. Include the names of each presenter and organization, including full contact information.

Courtenay / Thursday, Oct. 6
Delta / Thursday, Oct. 6
Victoria* / Tuesday, Oct. 11
*Video/teleconference opportunities for Fort St. John, Fort Nelson, Williams Lake, Smithers, Castlegar, Vernon, Terrace, and Penticton.
The Committee is also empowered to consider and to make recommendations on the annual reports, rolling three-year service plans, and budgets of BC's eight statutory officers.
