Your Invitation to the Official Launch of SpaceFinder BC
/SpaceFinder BC is ready for launch!
Artists, arts organizations, and managers of facilities in our arts and cultural sector and beyond are invited to join us on Thursday, September 15 at CBC's Studio 700 to meet, mingle, and learn more about how SpaceFinder BC will match artists with under-utilized performance, rehearsal, and event spaces.
We'll be joined by Hon. Peter Fassbender, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, bringing greetings from the Province, and we'll introduce the Alliance's new executive director Brenda Leadlay.
What is SpaceFinder BC?
Many groups in the creative, non-profit and small business communities need space for meeting, creating, rehearsing, presenting, collaborating, gathering or celebrating; they spend considerable resources trying to find the right space to rent. On the flip side, venues spend significant resources trying to find the right renters for their spaces. These might include commercial renters to cross-subsidize non-profit rentals, or it might be renters who fit the venue’s mandate.
Using the SpaceFinder BC website (spacefinderbc.org), venues can market unbooked rental space by creating a listing and uploading a digital calendar, while artists and the public alike can discover space based on location, price, amenities, and up-to-date availability.
Built by non-profit Fractured Atlas, SpaceFinder BC is free to list and free to search. Initially launching in the Metro Vancouver area, SpaceFinder BC will grow to serve all of the communities in British Columbia, increasing the visibility of creative workspaces throughout the province.
SpaceFinder BC is made possible through the Alliance's partner organization The Society to Bridge Arts and Community, ArtsBuild Ontario, and Fractured Atlas, and will be managed through the Alliance for Arts + Culture.
