Call for Artists Description:

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) is pleased to offer an opportunity for emerging artists or designers to create a contemporary graphic design/artwork that will be displayed on the exterior of a WVPD community services team vehicle (Ford F350 truck). The vehicle is used to participate in community events across the province of B.C.

New or existing artwork is acceptable. The selected artwork will be printed onto vinyl wrap for cars (see specifications below).

The project is funded by the WVPD and supported by the District of West Vancouver’s Public Art Advisory Panel. Please note that logos may need to be added to the final design

Theme - the artwork should:
• reflect the community spirit and diversity of West Vancouver;
• reflect the geography of the community from the mountains to the sea; natural elements, and/or outdoor experiences;
• be visually welcoming, able to be seen from a distance and help to break down barriers for community interaction.
• Simple designs are encouraged. Innovative and creative interpretations of the theme are encouraged;
• All artwork must be appropriate for the general public;
• Artwork will incorporate WVPD branding (either by the artist in their submission or in preparing the successful design for print)

Acceptable forms of art:
• Designs that incorporate colour are preferred
• Illustration, drawings, paintings, prints, collage and other computer-generated images. Stock images/stock photos are not acceptable, although original photos are permitted.

Submit your complete application package by deadline to be considered to:
arts@westvancouver.ca with subject line: WVPD Truck Wrap Project – YOUR NAME
• Submission materials must be sent by attachment in .pdf format with support material in .jpg format. Total combined size of attachments not to exceed 5MB.
• Note: Links to external document sharing sites will not be accepted.

Fees/Compensation:

$5,000 artist fee
