Job Description:
Position Type: Part-time, contractual, seasonal (May–October, with the possibility of additional productions throughout the rest of the year)
Compensation: $25-$30/hour based on experience
Location: Vancouver, BC
Start date: immediate
Theatre Terrific is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the successful realization of our annual Harvest Production—a culmination of a year’s worth of courses, performed at the Vancouver Fringe Festival and occasionally at the Heart of the City Festival.
In addition, the candidate will have an opportunity to be considered to become Theatre Terrific's resident Production Manager and provide support for other productions, including:
Being with Elders – An annual small-scale in-house performance created in collaboration with Elders to share their stories.
Ad Hoc Productions – Special projects that emerge based on funding and artistic direction, such as past productions like Tree Drum, Surviving Samsara, Unsettled, etc.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a theatre artist with strong organizational and production skills who is passionate about inclusive and community-engaged theatre.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all production aspects of the Harvest Production, from planning to performance.
Collaborate with the Artistic Director to determine production needs and schedules.
Coordinate rehearsals, technical elements, and logistics for performances.
Hire and liaise with designers, stage managers, and other production personnel as needed.
Manage budgets and production expenses under the direction of the Managing Director.
Support additional productions throughout the year, depending on funding and scheduling.
Foster an inclusive and accessible production environment in alignment with Theatre Terrific’s values.
Qualifications:
Experience in theatre production management or stage management.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with artists of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Strong and proven ability to work under pressure (and remain graceful, cordial and compassionate towards others).
Experience in inclusive and community-based theatre is an asset.
Knowledge of technical theatre (lighting, sound, set) is an asset.
Strong network in the theatre and performing arts sector is an asset.
