New Fund Focuses On Canada-UK Theatre Collaborations
/The following is partially excerpted from an article published in The Stage.
A fund supporting British and Canadian theatre makers has been set up to nurture creative partnerships and productions between the two countries.
New Conversations will initially be a two-year pilot, and is open to artists and arts organizations working in the performing arts in the UK and Canada.
The programme aims to provide funding and opportunities to kickstart research and development projects, which in turn is hoped will lead to more concrete collaborations, such as full productions.
To be eligible for funding, projects must involve at least one partner in each country.
It is being run by the British Council, the High Commission of Canada in the UK, and Surrey, UK arts organization Farnham Maltings.
The fund will invest up to £120,000 over the two years and is open to artists and companies working in theatre and dance, with individual grants expected to be in the region of £5,000 to £7,000.
Applications for the first round are open until November 18.
