This six-week program centers on tactile creative practices and shared learning.

About the Program:

Focus:
* Tactile presentation such as tactile drawings, textiles, sculptures, interactive or performances experienced through touch.
* Exploring tactile communication practices such as braille, raised written lettering, protactile, and translation or accessible information sharing through screen readers or audio presentations
* To help artist-run centres and contemporary artists serve non-visual artists and audiences.

Timeline: A six-week program fostering shared learning between the artist(s), grunt gallery staff, and the community.

Goals: To explore tactile forms of artistic engagement and presentation, prioritize accessibility, and challenge traditional, occular-centric approaches to art.

Free Information Session: March 5, 2025 – Register by email aep@grunt.ca by February 28th. * We will book ASL Interpreters on request.

This call is open to adult artists, musicians, or performers with a tactile practice who are Blind, Low Vision or Partially Sighted and others who identify as non-visual or otherwise within the broad spectrum of sight loss. Applications from artists also from Deaf and disabled communities and/or people of the global majority (BIPOC) are highly encouraged. Host nation artists with a tactile practice from Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh Nations and Families are prioritized. Local artists with an address in Metro Vancouver/Lower Mainland or adjacent Coast Salish territory only.
