Renegade Arts Company is thriller to invite you to join the creative team for Back From the Dead: An Apocalyptic Rock Musical, a revolutionary new production set to premiere at The Shop Theatre in Vancouver in Spring or Summer of 2025. This innovative musical combines a high-energy rock score with a captivating post-apocalyptic narrative, story by Jim Buckshon and Tom Harrison, with music composed by Renegade.

Project Overview:

Title: Back From the Dead: An Apocalyptic Rock Musical
Venue: The Shop Theatre, 8877 Selkirk St., Vancouver
Performance Dates: Two weeks in Spring or Summer 2025
Audition Dates: February or March 2025
Rehearsal Period: 8 weeks (2 weekday evenings, 1 weekend day)
Creative Team: Director, Music Director.

Creative Team Requirements:

Open to non-union or CAEA
Director: Lead the artistic vision for the production, working closely with the writers and composers to ensure a seamless integration of the story, music, and stage design.
Music Director: Oversee all musical elements of the production, including hiring 3-4 musicians, arrangements, cast rehearsals, and ensuring that the rock score is brought to life with the appropriate intensity and emotion.

Synopsis:

In the desolate world of the Nowhere, a future North America ravaged by cosmic dust and plagued by mutated creatures, survival is a daily struggle. A bewildered group known as The No One, led by the reluctant and haunted Vesper, fights to stay alive under the oppressive rule of Dr. Genius, a self-appointed president, and The Immune, a delusional cult that believes they hold the secret to humanity’s survival.

When war breaks out between the factions and alliances shift like the ever-changing winds of the apocalypse, The No One must navigate a perilous journey across this fractured landscape. Along the way, they encounter Jay, a fierce leader with a band of eccentric survivors, and witness the rise of deceitful societies and power struggles that threaten to unravel what little hope remains. Their journey leads them on a quest for the elusive Greenspace—a land where the world is said to have been saved from the devastation that has wiped out civilization.

The score by Renegade is a fusion of haunting ballads and explosive rock anthems that mirror the intensity and chaos of the world they inhabit. Through the power of music and character-driven storytelling, Back From the Dead explores the human capacity for survival, hope, and reinvention in the face of overwhelming odds.
