Job Description:
The City of Abbotsford’s Recreation & Culture division is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated professional with proven leadership, community development and programming skills to join their dynamic team as an auxiliary Recreation Programmer to support arts and culture programming.
Responsibilities:
In this exciting role you will work with a variety of City staff, culture service providers, and community culture organizations. You are also a creative and critical thinker, with an understanding of the importance of cross discipline collaboration, creative place making, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion values with a demonstrated interest in public engagement and educational program planning and delivery in the arts.
An ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with non-profit community organizations, advisory boards, and other partner organizations is essential for success in this position. An understanding of culture service delivery in a municipal government setting is desired.
Your excellent communication, organizational, administrative and critical thinking skills and abilities, combined with a strong commitment to customer service excellence will guide your success in this position.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must have:
• College Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum 2 years’ experience in culture or recreation program development including a minimum 6 months in area of assignment and 1 year of supervisory experience in a recreation environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 • Current CPR Level C Certification • Valid BC Drivers License

Remuneration:
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.09 to $37.72 per hour. This is a five-month position offering 2-3 days per week. Some evenings and weekends may be required to support programming.
