Job Description:
The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is seeking a dedicated and passionate Ballet Instructor to join our Long-Term Dance Program. In this role, you will work with young dancers (ages 6-12) to teach the fundamentals of ballet, following the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus from Primary to Grade 2.
This position would begin January 11, 2025 for Saturdays 10:20am - 2:15pm classes running until June 2025. Additional work opportunities in the future.
Responsibilities:
•Teach ballet classes to children ages 6-12, adhering to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for Primary to Grade 2.
•Foster a positive and engaging learning environment, where students feel encouraged and supported in their growth, focus on teaching dance as an art form.
•Develop class plans that balance skill development and creativity. Ensure student safety and well-being during all classes.
•Prepare students for performances, and evaluations as needed.
•Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members.
Qualifications:
•Previous teaching experience with young children (ages 6-12).
•In-depth knowledge of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus (Primary to Grade 2).
•Ability to work effectively with children and create a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
•Commitment to teaching on Saturdays from 10:20 AM to 2:15 PM for the duration of the season.
•Current First Aid and CPR C certification.
•Must be 19 years of age or older.
