Ballet BC Leader Named to Forty Under 40 List

Branislav Henselmann, Ballet BC's executive director, is among 40 individuals being recognized by Business in Vancouver (BIV) for accomplishing outstanding achievements before the age of 40.

Each year the newspaper presents the Forty under 40 Awards, honouring the brightest of British Columbia's young entrepreneurs, executives, managers and professionals in public or private business and non-profit sectors. Those selected have demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership and community contribution. 

Henselmann worked as a dancer, choreographer and producer with several companies in England and New York before joining Ballet BC as executive director in 2012. The company had faced serious financial difficulties in 2008-2009, verging on bankruptcy, however under Henselmann's leadership Ballet BC has made a steady recovery, seeing season subscriptions over the past year increase by 25%. He told BIV he is focused on making the company financially sustainable through increasing ticket sales as well as corporate sponsorships and donations. 

Winners of the 2014 Forty under 40 Awards will be honoured at a gala dinner to be held at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel on January 28, 2015.
