Introducing Our 2021 Spring Workshops!
/It seems like these days, we’ve all got more questions than answers. We’re trying to learn new ways, new mediums, new skills, all while confronting the realities of a global pandemic. The BC Alliance wants to help make those learning experiences fun and easy. Want to learn the nitty-gritty of writing Gaming Grants or filing taxes? Tackling new ways of creating and marketing your art? Do you want to improve your knowledge and approaches around gender diversity? Let’s learn together with our 2021 Spring Workshops.
First up, a pair of returning favourites, updated for the current era. Marianna Scott's Tax Relief: COVID-19 Support and More covers the fundamentals of taxation for self-employed individuals, with an emphasis on artists and craftspeople. After completing this workshop, the participant will be armed with the tools to be organized, track revenues and expenses, and make tax preparation as painless as possible. Even better, the session's content has been updated to include CERB and other COVID-19 government support benefits. That happens Wednesday, March 10.
Then: did you know that the 2021 Community Gaming Grant guidelines have recently been changed? There are important new criteria changes (and new opportunities) that could benefit your organization. As always, Gaming Grant whiz Mary Ann S. Anderson is on top of it with Gaming Grants 101 on Tuesday, March 16. The workshop will provide a clear road-map to creating a successful application – for both first-timers and long-time grant recipients.
Next up, a session that takes place over two days: Digital Marketing in COVID: Facebook + Instagram Advertising happens over two 90-minute Zoom sessions, March 25 and April 1. Digital arts marketer Brian Paterson delves into specifics and strategies for Facebook and Instagram, two of the strongest platforms for maintaining ties with audiences.
Want to get into podcasting but aren’t sure where to start? Maybe you’ve started, and want to improve? Getting Started with Podcasting will give a novice podcaster a leg on up on how to prepare, produce and launch a podcast. Working with Robert Ouimet, participants will break down the elements that go into creating a podcast, step by step. That happens Wednesday, April 7.
Last, and certainly not least, Ambit Consulting will introduce frameworks for understanding gender diversity beyond the binary, offer examples of gender-affirming practices, and explore strategies for applying these learnings on a personal, relational, and systemic level. This includes dignifying workplaces and practices, the gender binary, intersectionality, microaggressions, bystander intervention, and active allyship. Join us for Gender Diversity in the Workplace: Positive Approaches for Supporting Transgender, Non-Binary, and Two-Spirit Employees and Clients on Tuesday, April 13.
