An Update on Our Policies Around Our Calls for Artists Board + BC ArtsPost

In 2017, we made it our policy to ensure posters on our job board disclose the salary range for their listings. We made this change following community feedback, to make job searching an easier, more equitable, and more respectful process.

Recently, we've gotten some feedback on our Calls for Artists board that has led us to implement some new changes, which will also carry over to opportunities circulated via our BC ArtsPost media service.

First, any submission or administrative fees must now be disclosed. It is important that artists are immediately aware of any fees as they consider whether an opportunity is worth the time and energy spent applying. Second, any opportunity with a fee for application must have the potential to recompensate the applicant. So, for example, paying $25 to enter a literary contest with a possible $1500 prize is acceptable under the new rules. Paying $25 for publication? No go.
