City of Kelowna Draft Cultural Plan Update Ready for Community Feedback

The following is excerpted from a release issued by the City of Kelowna.
The community is invited to weigh in on the first draft of Kelowna’s Cultural Plan update. Key components of the 2020-2025 Cultural Plan include the vision, goals and 50 community-based strategies and are now available for review and input at kelowna.ca/culture.
“The key to this plan is that the strategies are flexible enough to allow for the development of new community initiatives to support the vision for the sector,” said Christine McWillis, Cultural Services Manager. “The Cultural Plan is not designed to be delivered by any one entity, the community has helped to build this plan which will inform investment, enhance program delivery and encourage collaboration and innovation.”
Over the past year, community members, artists, arts and culture organizations and the business community have shared their insights on how they envision arts, culture and heritage evolving in Kelowna in the future. Residents now have a final opportunity to review a summary of the draft plan, complete a brief survey and exchange ideas at getinvolved.kelowna.ca/cultural-plan until August 5.
In addition to online feedback opportunities, Cultural Services representatives will be set up at the following locations and events to share an overview of the plan and answer questions:

The Cultural Plan update establishes the direction of cultural development in the years ahead and inspires continuous growth for the creative sector. A final draft of the plan is scheduled to be presented to Council for endorsement this fall.
