City of Vancouver Seeks Peer Assessors for 2020 Cultural Grants
/The City of Vancouver is always seeking peer assessors for a variety of opportunities to advance key directions of Culture|Shift: Blanketing the City in Arts and Culture, which is the new Vancouver Culture Plan 2020-2029.
The current opportunity is for multi-disciplinary peer assessors for 2020 Cultural Grants (Operating, Annual Assistance and Projects).
Cultural Services works with assessment committees to review applications for civic cultural funding to help make recommendations to Vancouver City Council for support. We are seeking members who represent a diversity of artistic genres and cultural practices, roles in the cultural sector, ages, and lived experiences. We are committed to a minimum of 50% representation of people who are from equity seeking communities.
Peer Assessors are:
Interested in Culture|Shift values that uplift reconciliation & decolonization; cultural equity & accessibility; affordable, accessible, secure spaces; and collaboration & capacity.
Have existing connections and lived experience in Vancouver’s arts, culture, and creative communities.
Comfortable evaluating grant applications against a variety of criteria including evaluation of artistic works, organizational capacity and community impact of non-profit arts, culture, and creative organizations in Vancouver.
Have the time and capacity for a high volume of reading and preparation between December 2019 and February 2020.
Available for up to three days for meetings between 9-6 pm in February 2020.
Assessors will be paid a fee for their participation (reading and meeting fees).
