On April 5, Western Canada Theatre announced the appointment of its incoming managing director, Evan Klassen.

Originally from Winnipeg, Klassen was the director of artistic operations and production at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He was also recently board chair for the Seven Oaks House Museum, as well as serving on the boards of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, the Winnipeg Arts Council, and Manitobans for the Arts.

“I have known Evan for many years from our work in professional theatre across Canada, and he is a perfect fit for our company and our community," says WCT artistic director James MacDonald. "I look forward to working with him as a partner in leading this outstanding organization into a terrific future in Kamloops."

“Evan brings exactly the right mix of experience in producing and managing the performing arts to work in tandem with James to enable the potential of this great company. I am so glad Evan responded to the national search, and I’m thrilled to be leaving the company in such great hands,” adds outgoing executive director Lori Marchand.

Klassen will assume his role on May 2, 2018.
