Law for Non-Profits Conducts Societies Act and Privacy Workshops

Law for Non-Profits, a program of Pacific Legal Education and Outreach, is conducting a pair of workshops on April 4. The first, "The New Societies Act: What You Need to Know," helps organizations navigate the changes to the new Societies Act. The second, "Privacy 101," helps bring your organization compliant with new privacy laws. Each session costs $50 to attend and take place at the BC Alliance's downtown Vancouver headquarters (100-938 Howe Street).

More information on the workshops, including registration, is below.

April 4 (9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.): The New Societies Act: What You Need to Know- Vancouver

There are more than 27,000 non-profit societies in BC, providing services and programs that touch virtually every citizen. All pre-existing BC societies need to transition to the new BC Societies Act. The Act includes many significant changes. There is a two-year transition period by which time all societies in BC will have to have filed a transition application. This workshop will provide your society with the information it needs on whether to make any bylaw or policy changes necessary for your society to transition to effectively function under the new Act.

April 4 (1:30 - 4:00 p.m.): Privacy 101 - Vancouver
