Canadian Heritage Approves $3.3 Million in Job and Internship Funding to Museums

The following is partially excerpted from a release issued by the Canadian Museums Association.

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) has announced that the Ministry of Canadian Heritage approved supplemental funding to the CMA of $3,360,000 for summer jobs and internships. The new federal financial contribution enables the CMA to deliver 200 additional Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations summer jobs and 154 Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage internships in 2017–2018.

“Young Canada Works in Heritage is an incredibly successful program which provides meaningful training for young people and helps museums with their vital work. This increase in funding will help not just with summer jobs but will be a major boost to internship programs in museums,” said John G. McAvity, executive director of the CMA. “We are very pleased the Minister has recognized these opportunities and has responded so positively."
