White Rock Concerts Appoints New Associate Artistic Directors
/Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann, internationally renowned duo-pianists and currently co-artistic directors of the Rose Gellert Hall Concert series at the Langley Community Music School, have been named associate directors of White Rock Concerts.
The Bergmanns will join artistic director George Zukerman, who has held the post for 58 years since the organization was founded in 1956. The Bergmanns will serve as associate artistic directors for the current season and for the 2015-16 season which will be Mr. Zukerman’s final year at the helm of White Rock Concerts. They will assume full artistic direction of the concert series in the season 2016-17.
"I have known of the Bergmanns’ work in our community for many years, and it is significant to recognize that the artistic direction of White Rock Concerts will remain in the hands of active and renowned international performers," said White Rock Concerts vice-president Susan Olsen.
White Rock Concerts, now in its 59th subscription series, provides an annual programme of distinguished classical music concerts to a sold-out audience of 800. It has presented nearly 350 concerts including such stellar artists and groups as Ben Heppner, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, James Ehnes, Tafelmusik, The King’s Singers, Angela Hewitt, Juilliard Quartet, Louis Lortie, Octagon, Anton Kuerti, Russell Braun, Isabel Bayrkdarian and many more.
