Alliance Winter Workshop: Deconstructing the HST

Dates & Times: February 6 / 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. & February 13 / 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Venue: Alliance Board Room

Workshop: On April 1 British Columbia will scrap the HST and return to the PST / GST. Darren Taylor, of Grant Thornton, provided workshops for our community on adapting to the HST and is now available to guide us through the return to the PST.

The return to a PST and federal goods and services tax (GST) system in British Columbia is complex and requires careful planning, coordination and implementation throughout the various stages to help ensure an orderly, responsible transition.

The new legislation has clarified language to reduce ambiguity and bring the old legislation up to date with current practices and technology. A number of changes reflect interim recommendations from the Expert Panel on Business Taxation.

Facilitator: Darren Taylor is a senior manager with Grant Thornton LLP, a leading Canadian accounting and business advisory firm, providing audit, tax and advisory services to private and public organizations.

Cost: Members $45 / Non-members $75. (plus 12% HST)
