Job Description:
Are you passionate about contemporary art and education? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment developing programs for children and families? Surrey Art Gallery is seeking a Gallery Engagement Facilitator. Join a dynamic cultural institution and gain experience in art gallery education methodologies and practice.
Internationally recognized for its award-winning programs, Surrey Art Gallery shows all forms of contemporary art by local, national, and international artists, including digital and audio art. Our programs include artist talks, tours, and multiple art making and learning opportunities with artists, educators, and other specialists.
This is an excellent opportunity for a current student or recent graduate pursuing a career in art education.
Responsibilities:
Working with and supporting artist-educators in program delivery during Gallery’s summer visual arts camps for children.
Supporting diverse learners in Gallery art education settings.
Working with staff in the development of promotional materials and access initiatives.
Contributing to the creation of Gallery education and accessibility resources and initiatives.
A motivated self-starter with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
An educator with a passion for community-based arts education and developing learner-centered educational materials.
An individual who has experience working with diverse learners and learners with physical disabilities.
A team member with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications:
We are seeking an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and adapting to change, and who thrives in situations where they work with a variety of teams and the public.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Solid planning, administrative, and organizational skills with good attention to detail.
Good digital literacy and the ability to work in a Windows environment including Word
and Outlook.
Completion of grade 12 and some post-secondary education from a recognized institution.
Supplemented by 2 years of related experience in recreation or cultural work including supervision.
Emergency First Aid certificate and CPR Certificate or acceptable equivalent.
