ECC operates a professional venue that offers arts and cultural services to the Tri-Cities area (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody). Our mission is to inspire the community by providing engaging, quality entertainment, exhibitions, and arts programs in a welcoming environment. Our facility houses a 257-seat, flexible black box theatre and a 1,500 square-foot public art gallery. The Rehearsal Hall and four art studios provide an additional 5,000 square feet of space for Evergreen’s classes, workshops, and rentals, while the glassed-in lobby offers a spectacular view of Lafarge Lake.

Job Description:

Are you passionate about the arts and eager to make a meaningful impact in your community? Evergreen Cultural Centre Society (ECC) seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Performing Arts Assistant to join our team! This exciting event-based position is responsible for providing ongoing administrative support while also assisting in the development and promotion of programs that inspire and challenge our audiences.

Reporting to the Performing Arts Manager, the Performing Arts Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our arts programming and facility rentals. You will be instrumental in developing and promoting programs that captivate audiences in a role that offers the opportunity to build meaningful community relationships and gain exposure to the industry.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Performing Arts Manager in researching, contracting, and communicating with artists for our season presentations.
• Support the development and promotion of arts programming in collaboration with the Performing Arts Manager.
• Lead the development and evaluation of our youth-focused performing arts programming, including scheduling artists and volunteers.
• Respond to rental inquiries, develop contracts, and communicate with rental clients.
• Meet with clients and facilitate building/facility tours.
• Ensure the coordination of rental activities with other programs.
• Oversees the planning and execution of select other special events.
• Represent ECC during season presentations, participating in activities such as artist talks and front of house announcements.
• Research funding opportunities and assist with grant writing.
• Coordinate and disseminate programming information internally to the Marketing, Front of House, Box Office, and Technical departments.
• Arrange accommodation and payment for out-of-town artists.
• Reconcile events and produce reports
• Perform various administrative duties, including data entry in the facility schedule.
• Attend programming events and artist showcases.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Manager or Executive Director.

Qualifications:

• A passion for arts programming and creating events.
• A deep appreciation and understanding of the Performing Arts and not-for-profit organizations.
• Proficiency in MS Office and other computer programs.
• Knowledge of office administration, data entry, email, and social media.
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Comfort with public speaking and providing excellent customer service.
• Training in performing arts, arts administration, event management, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in arts programming and creating events for children, youth, and adults.
• Experience in office administration including processing paperwork, internal communications, and data entry.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
• A meaningful understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and equity.
• Experience in production management, event planning, and Front of House operations is an asset
• Knowledge of the Tri-Cities and/or Metro Vancouver arts & culture scene is an asset

Remuneration:

$46,000 per year plus Municipal Pension Plan, extended health benefits, paid vacation, and sick time
