Organization Description:
North Vancouver Recreation and Culture is looking for an Events Assistant to support the events team. This position is responsible for organizing, preparing, and assisting with events and activations throughout North Vancouver. This position reports to the Programmer II and collaborates with key events staff.

Job Description:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
You are a person who enjoys working with the community and understands events. You are confident, polite, organized and an effective communicator. In the position you will:
Assist with the outdoor or indoor space set-up and take-down of events which may include decorating and/or assisting with AV equipment. Set up may also include lifting heavy and large event equipment.
Organize on-site event elements with children and families, as required, including crafts, games, or activities.
Maintain inventory of event supplies, order and prepare materials
Assist with various administrative tasks as assigned by event staff both seasonally and year round
Support contractors and artists on site during the event by helping with set up and participants
Provide standard first aid to the public, as needed
Transport equipment and supplies to events using the events van to sites throughout North Vancouver
Assistance managing event crowds and attendees
Assistance with parking set up for concerts and events
Event set up and take down as required

Maintain exceptional customer service standards
Report any safety concerns or operational issues to supervisor
Be proactive in acquiring organizational knowledge and responding to supervisor requests
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Planning and supervision of various aspects of events
Consider accessibility needs while setting up events
Provide an enjoyable and memorable experience for all guests
Uphold NVRC’s mandate and vision to promote creativity and celebrate diversity
Always be a positive and engaging team player while representing NVRC at events
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
This position requires a Class 5 driver's license, a copy of your driver's abstract and access to a vehicle for business use. Current Standard First Aid certification.
This casual position will have 4-16 hours of work per week during peak events season (June - September). Off-season shifts and events will be scheduled as needed.
All candidates must submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. All candidates must be prepared to work at any of our facilities and in a variety of park and plaza settings.

Remuneration:
HOURLY RATE: The rate of pay for this casual position starts at $24.00 per hour and ranges to $28.00 per hour.
