Union of BC Performers Concludes Negotiations For BC Master Production Agreement
/Negotiations between the UBCP / ACTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) formally concluded on March 12, 2013.
After nearly a year and a half of bargaining, the Union of BC Performers / ACTRA has reached a tentative agreement for a new British Columbia Master Production Agreement to be placed before the Membership for ratification.
“This has been a long process of hard bargaining in concert with our National leadership but we have finally reached an agreement,” says Alvin Sanders, President of UBCP/ACTRA.
The tentative agreement contains a 1.5% general wage increase effective March 31, 2013 and another 1.5% increase effective March 30, 2014. It also provides for Stunt Coordinators to participate in residuals. There will be no discounted minimum fees, fringes or residuals.
“I am happy we have a deal. This will be good for our members and good for the industry,” says Rob Morton, Chair of the Bargaining Committee.
UBCP / ACTRA will be recommending the terms of this new agreement to their membership.
The Union of British Columbia Performers (UBCP / ACTRA) is an autonomous branch of ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists), the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
