Nominations Open For 2011 Mayor's Arts Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2011 Mayor's Arts Awards.

The Mayor’s Arts Awards recognizes established and emerging artists in a wide array of disciplines that make up our creative sector – from literary to culinary arts, and visual to performing arts, as well as three unique awards for contributions to our community.

Honourees are chosen each year by a jury of peers for having made a significant contribution to their respective disciplines, and for showing leadership, innovation and support for Vancouver’s cultural community over the course of their careers.

Each Honouree selects an Emerging Artist in their discipline who represents the promise of the next generation. Both Honourees and Emerging Artists receive a cash award in the amount of $2,500.

Three special awards are for contributions through Volunteerism, Philanthropy, and Business Support.

The 2011 Mayor’s Arts Awards presentations will take place in late September. The date and venue will be announced shortly.
