Nominations Are Now Open For The 2013 Mayor's Arts Awards
/The City of Vancouver's Mayor’s Arts Awards recognizes established and emerging artists in a wide array of disciplines that make up our creative sector – from literary to culinary arts, and visual to performing arts, as well as four unique awards for support of the arts by individuals and businesses and a special award for Lifetime Achievement.
Honourees are chosen each year by a jury of peers, with nominations from the community, for having made a significant contribution to their respective disciplines, and for showing leadership, innovation and support for Vancouver’s cultural community over the course of their careers. Juries in the artist categories generally consist of Award recipients for the previous three years.
Each arts category Honouree selects an Emerging Artist in their discipline, who represents the promise of the next generation.
Artist and Emerging Artist Honourees, and the Lifetime Achievement recipient each receive a cash award.
Special non-cash awards are for contributions through Volunteerism, Philanthropy, Business Support, and Arts Board Member of the Year.
The 2013 Mayor’s Arts Awards presentations will take place on Thursday, September 19 in the Exhibition Hall at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.
Each nomination requires three nominators, and the deadline for nominations is 10 a.m. UPDATE: 6 p.m. Monday, April 15.
