Playwrights Guild of Canada Appoints New Executive Director
/Shirley Barrie, President of the National Council of Playwrights Guild of Canada, announced the appointment of Robin Sokoloski as the Guild's new Executive Director.
Having worked with Playwrights Guild of Canada for over four years, Robin already knows the organization well, and her passion, commitment and new ideas will be invaluable as PGC moves forward, said Barrie.
Robin has been doing an excellent job as Interim ED during the past two months developing financial safeguards, and undertaking new initiatives to make the Guild function more effectively, and grow for the future. Her four-year history with the organization in various roles, (handling play sales and amateur rights, coordinating the membership during a time of transition, and creating, fundraising for, and managing the Uth Ink program) gives her an intimate knowledge of PGC.
Prior to joining PGC, Robin worked in various arts organizations including PACT and Theatre Ontario. She holds two post graduate diplomas, one in arts administration from Humber College.
Robin says: For the last four years Playwrights Guild of Canada has provided me with great opportunities to learn, interact and create. I'm extremely excited about this new challenging role. I look forward to working with the membership, the National Council and staff to guide PGC.
