The Latest News on the Waldorf Hotel

News has been circulating fast and furious about the status of the Waldorf Hotel building and its creative team, via press releases, articles in local news outlets, and updates from Mayor Gregor Robertson's office.

We blogged about it last week just after the press release was issued by the Waldorf's creative team, announcing that they would close the doors on January 20.

There have been numerous developments over the past week, the most recent being yesterday's vote by Vancouver City Council to issue a 120-day protection order for the hotel, preventing any potential demolition while an assessment is conducted of the building's heritage value.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 17,912 people had signed the online petition to save the Waldorf.

We're providing you with links to a number of articles, announcements, and press releases to enable you to gain an understanding of the issues and latest developments. We'll continue to post links here with the latest news as it happens.
