Join the BC Kickoff for Culture Days in Victoria's Centennial Square!

 

The City of Victoria, the Victoria African & Caribbean Cultural Society, and Societé francophone de Victoria will host a free public event at Centennial Square beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 27 to officially launch Culture Days in British Columbia.

“We are thrilled that the City of Victoria has been selected to host the official BC Culture Days launch event,” said Mayor Dean Fortin, who will be making Friday’s official announcement. “Culture Days in the Square” will showcase Victoria’s talented and diverse arts and cultural community, and we invite everyone to join us.”

The evening will feature music, dance, artist demos, a collaborative painting project and a food fair, and everyone is encouraged to bring drums and shakers so they can participate in the festivities.

Among the entertainers taking part will be Amy & Tafadza Matamba, Wontanara Drum & Dance, Furusato Dancers, and Latin Spirit Dance Academy.

Culture Days in the Square activities will continue Saturday, September 28 from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More than 450 free events and activities will take place in 46 communities province-wide as British Columbians join in the three-day Canada-wide celebration of arts and culture, September 27 - 29. Mayors and councils in Vancouver, Victoria, Richmond, Surrey, Ladysmith, Duncan, North Vancouver, and Kelowna have officially proclaimed Culture Days in their communities.
