/29th ANNUAL JESSIE RICHARDSON AWARDS
Vancouver, BC – The Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards Society will be announcing the nominees for the upcoming theatre awards honouring Vancouver’s vibrant artistic community at the 2011 Nominations Party on Tuesday, May 24th at the Improv Centre, 1502 Duranleau Street on Granville Island. The doors open at 4:00pm and the announcement of the nominees will be at 4:30pm sharp, followed by a reception.
“Vancouver’s spirited theatre community once again provided an outstanding year of theatre. We are extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented community devoted to their craft of creating exciting and innovative productions that help make Vancouver a vibrant and culturally dynamic city,” stated Camilla Tibbs, President of the Jessie Richardson Society.
The Jessies began in 1983 and takes its name from Jessie Richardson, one of Vancouver’s theatre pioneers. The awards acknowledge bodies of work in the Large Theatre, Small Theatre and Theatre for Young Audiences, all whose work has contributed to make Vancouver a vibrant city.
The 29th Annual Ceremony will again be held at the beautiful Commodore Ballroom, 868 Granville Street, on Monday, June 20, 2011 doors open at 5:30pm, ceremony at 6:45pm. The ceremony is being produced and directed by Vancouver TheatreSports who will produce a festive evening - awards, music, dancing; and create a fitting celebration to honour the talented theatre community.
