Ironclad Art: Manhole Cover Design Challenge

Ironclad Art is your opportunity to showcase your creative contribution to Vancouver and have your artwork immortalized in iron on city streets for up to 100 years. The City of Vancouver invites everyone who lives, works or studies in Vancouver to submit designs for new manhole covers. 

Designs should help to identify and uniquely distinguish sanitary from storm sewer manhole covers. You may submit up to two designs, one for sanitary sewers and another for storm sewers. Or, if you prefer, you can submit one design for both sewer types.

Prizes

An independent panel of judges will review the designs and shortlist their choices. From this list, two winners will be chosen and each receive a prize of $2000 in addition to seeing their designs cast in iron as manhole covers and placed at select locations in the city.

Two additional honorary "People's Choice" winners will be chosen by visitors to the exhibition of the submitted designs to be held at the Interurban Gallery at the end of May.
