grunt gallery Announces New Communications Director
/On August 23rd grunt gallery welcomed Karlene Harvey to the newly formed position of Communications Director. Karlene is a First Nations (Tsilhqot'in, Carrier and Okanagan) artist and communications professional based out of Vancouver, BC. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.
Karlene is passionate about creating spaces that facilitate connections, creativity and engagement. She has worked at a number of arts- and health-related organizations that operate at the community level. Her most recent positions were as Communications Officer at the interim First Nations Health Authority and Marketing Co-Head for the Terminal City Rollergirls.
The newly developed role of Communications Director has emerged as part of grunt's ongoing strategic planning process. In addition to maintaining fundamental communications activities, this role will include a more focused concentration on fundraising and sustainability.
Demian Petryshyn is switching from his current role as Programming and Communications Coordinator to working on project-based initiatives for grunt gallery. The goal of this move is to create more space for Demian to focus on his artistic practice and studies, while providing him with the opportunity to plan and develop future initiatives for grunt.
