Last Call For Free Talk On "BC's Cultural Climate"
/The Alliance for Arts and Culture will present Kelly Hill, of Hill Strategies, speaking on "BC’s Cultural Climate: Understanding the Effect of the Arts on our Economy and Society" at a free public presentation from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21 in the Exhibition Hall at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.
Hill Strategies Research is a Canadian company that specializes in applying social science research methods to the arts sector.
Among the topics to be addressed by Mr. Hill will be:
- Cultural supply and demand in British Columbia (with statistics on artists and cultural workers, arts organizations, volunteers, donors, public participation, consumer spending, and government spending);
- Evidence about the value of the arts to British Columbia's quality of life, economic vitality, and vibrancy of its communities.
The Alliance’s goal in hosting this presentation is to communicate key information about the impact of arts and culture in our communities. The presentation will be a step toward strengthening the case for arts and culture across the province, and it will serve as a platform for further study by the Alliance in the year ahead.
Through the presentation, attendees will be equipped to communicate relevant information about the sector within their own communities.

The presentation will be followed by a reception at 4:30 p.m. and the Alliance for Arts and Culture’s 2012 Annual General Meeting in the adjacent Room B at 5 p.m.
