BC Touring Council Awards

The BC Touring Council Annual Awards were handed out last week at the Pacific Contact booking conference and tradeshow in Burnaby, BC. Touring Artist / Company Of The Year is awarded to an artist or company who toured BC within the past year, demonstrates artistic excellence in their discipline and brings the highest degree of professionalism in touring.  The 2013 Touring Company Of The Year: Ballet Jorgen Canada, Toronto. Presenter Of The Year. In this category presenters are to be currently presenting in British Columbia, attend Pacific Contact, demonstrate commitment to artistic and managerial excellence, demonstrate community involvement, demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism in presenting and contribute to the awareness and development of the arts. The 2013 Presenter Of The Year: Lindy Sisson of The ACT Arts Centre and Theatre, Maple Ridge. In the category of Agent or Manager Of The Year the individual receiving this award should attend Pacific Contact and follow up with presenters afterwards, demonstrate professionalism and respect for artists and presenters and demonstrate ethical and best practices in business. The 2013 Manager Of The Year: Ginette Ferland of Bouge de là, Montreal. The Touring Award of Excellence - The award recipient in this category is chosen by a selection committee with input from the BCTC board of directors and is not automatically awarded each year. This award recognizes an outstanding body of work, long-standing service and contribution and exemplifies excellence in the performing arts touring sector. The 2013 Touring Award of Excellence recipient: Phyllis Stenson of the Harrison Festival, Harrison. The Raising Curtains Award - recognizes those who work behind the scenes and is awarded to those who demonstrate commitment to the performing arts and touring sector.  The  2013 Raising Curtains Award: The Arts and Entertainment Management Program at Capilano University, Vancouver.   Congratulations to all the nominees and award recipients!
