Ballet BC Announces New Executive Director

“It’s with great excitement that we welcome Branislav to Canada and to Ballet BC and look forward to working with him as we continue the rapid growth of the company’s profile,” says Artistic Director Emily Molnar. “Branislav is a talented and accomplished leader whose background, experience and connections with the international dance community will add significant strength to Ballet BC’s leadership team.”
Mr. Henselmann originally trained as a dancer in Munich, later deepening his studies at conservatory level at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London. He was a DAAD German Academic Exchange Fellow, studying with the Merce Cunningham Foundation and was twice the recipient of the Young Artist award of the Ministry of Arts and Culture NRW. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance and Business Administration, earned as a Dean’s Fellow at New York University.

Mr. Henselmann joins Ballet BC following his current tenure as Executive Producer for the Michael Clark Company in London. Previously, he was the Head of Programming and Learning for DanceEast, a national dance organization overseeing dance development and artistic programming in the East of England, and the Artistic Curator for New York City Ballet’s Choreographic Institute, where he led a wide range of initiatives to promote the development of emerging choreographers involved in new classical choreography.

“Mr. Henselmann is a creative, dynamic and passionate arts professional with senior management experience and a global network that will prove invaluable to Ballet BC,” says Ballet BC’s Board Chair Dr. Kevin B. Leslie. “We anticipate that Mr. Henselmann’s global networks will extend Ballet BC’s reach to both American and European audiences, as well as expand the company’s profile and reputation in Canada."
